So much of life these days feels like a performance. There is constant pressure to show up a certain way or to only be perceived in a certain light. Meeting your photographer for the very first time at a photo session can feel the same way. In the age of AI, we invite families to slow down and begin their photo session the old-fashioned way. Our process begins with a face-to-face connection followed by a planning meeting where a genuine relationship can grow and develop naturally. The day of our session, we don’t expect you to be professional models or a “perfect” family. We’ll move through the session at your pace, encouraging intentionality and fun(!!!) with your loved ones and offering intuitive guidance as needed.

NOSTALGIC MEDIUMS - NEVER AI
After growing up in the early 2000s, we have found that our creative inspiration derives from the mediums that invoke the most nostalgia for us. When we look back at the documentation of our favorite childhood memories, we see moments preserved on 35mm film from our grandmother’s point-and-shoot. We see pixelated home movies recorded on pre-smartphone Sony handycams. Those mediums represent our earliest, most cherished memories, so it was only natural to carry them with us into adulthood. In the hyper-digital, AI-filled, fast-paced world of the 2020s, we find the unmatched quality beyond worth the added care and investment these mediums demand.

Having professional photos taken means all these special moments have been beautifully documented. But what happens after that? Too often, you’re left with the added mental load of figuring out how to keep them safe, how to display them, and where to have them printed.
As artists, we believe that leaving you with all those decisions is a disservice not only to you, but to the photos and memories associated with them. However, preserving and enjoying your photos is not a one size fits all process, and it’s our job to accommodate whatever serves our client best. We are the experts on the art, but you are the expert on your own life and family. We’ll guide you through all those decisions, whether you want fully custom heirloom artwork, design assistance, or just reliably good quality prints to put in your scrapbook.

Through several sessions over the course of a year, we will create an intentional record of a whole chapter of your family’s life instead of just one milestone. The documentary commission will result in storytelling heirloom artwork and a documentary film about your life.

Video completes the body of work we create with our clients, adding the sensory details of sound and motion that can’t be fully encapsulated in photos alone.
All session films are recorded on camcorders from the late 90s and early 2000s to authentically achieve the nostalgic look and feel of a home movie. Throughout the session, we use intuitive posing prompts to create moments of connection and help our clients relax on camera.
