What is a Gallery Reveal?

PICTURE THIS: you + your loved ones snuggled up on the couch with something to sip on (we like to bring champagne for the grown-ups and sparkling juice for the kiddos!). The slideshow begins and you watch the session unfold as a family, taking in one image at a time. You laugh together at the silly shots and feel your eyes sting at the sweet ones and the small details. You hold each other close and create a new memory that will live hand-in-hand with the session.

The Gallery Reveal process begins with the slideshow. Then, we help you choose which images you’ll print, and decide how to display them.

Why is a Gallery Reveal important?

The way you experience your images for the first time can have a vastly different effect, depending on the environment. Taking intentional time to view your gallery can be fulfilling in a way that scrolling passively can never be. That fulfillment is an important part of our process.

The Gallery Reveal is important because it also bridges the gap between printing intentions and reality. We take the mental burden (of research and design) and the legwork out of the printing process.

This guarantees that your photos will be viewable for years to come as complete, printed artwork—not lost somewhere on a hard drive, waiting to prioritized and printed.

What happens next?

After the Gallery Reveal experience, we help you narrow down which images you’ll print. This process is unique to each client and depends on how they prefer to enjoy their images.

For clients interested in wall art, we will design a custom gallery or framed statement pieces. This process involves custom digital mockups of their unique space so clients know exactly how the final pieces will look before they order.

For clients interested in albums, we’ll narrow down their gallery to their very favorite images, offering input on how to make the most cohesive, storytelling album.

No matter how you prefer to enjoy your photos, we’ll use the next few minutes to bridge the gap between intention and reality. The result is finished artwork you can hold in your hands—not the homework of digital files.

BONUS: How to Prepare for a Gallery Reveal Appointment

If you’re just used to photographers who just deliver photos with a quick text, you might be wondering how to prepare for a Gallery Reveal experience. You’ve come to the right place!

1. We typically do Gallery Reveals in our clients homes. Choose a comfortable space, and allow yourself to relax into the experience of the reveal. Plan to be intentionally present during the reveal. (Put your phone on silent!)

2. Review our artwork offerings listed in your Welcome Magazine to give you some ideas. Try to consider your future self: how will you want to look back on these photos 20 or 30 years from now?

3. Consider specific spots in your home that you’d like to see framed prints. We’ll take photos of those areas and create custom digital mockups during your appointment!

4. Don’t forget about family members—a Companion Album (a smaller version of your full size album) or Petite Matted Album make beautiful gifts for grandparents.

5. Get excited! After this appointment, you can check off the task of printing your family’s photos.
