Over the years, downtown Huntsville, AL has been a hub for local culture, with new restaurants and bars popping up, historic buildings and museums, and exciting events for the whole family. As a photographer, however, it has long been a favorite location of mine for portrait sessions.

Downtown Huntsville and the surrounding neighborhoods, like Twickenham and Five Points, have so many beautiful spots for taking photos. From my experience, if you just walk around the area for a few minutes with no destination in mind, stopping to snap a few photos whenever inspiration strikes, you’ll end up with tons of gorgeous images before you know it.

If you’d rather have a specific destination in mind, you can choose one of the many historic buildings in downtown Huntsville, AL. The Episcopal Church of the Nativity, with its Gothic Revival architecture and main sanctuary that dates back to the 1850s, is one of my favorite photo locations in downtown Huntsville, AL.

As a whole, Huntsville is continuing to grow and flourish as more people move in, open new businesses, and host new events. Despite the changing landscape of the city, I believe it’s valuable to continue visiting the historic areas as well. Downtown has so much to offer, so it remains one of my favorite Huntsville neighborhoods both for entertainment and for photo locations.
