Art Experiences in Huntsville for Kids | Alabama Family Photographer | Fauna & Film

There are some amazing art experiences for kids in Huntsville.  It is a great place for art-loving families to visit and explore together. As an Alabama Film Photographer, we are excited to say that there are plenty of activities to keep the entire family entertained, from drawing and painting to interactive art exhibits.  Here are some of the best things to do in Huntsville with creative kids:

1. Get Creative at the Huntsville Museum of Art:

The Huntsville Museum of Art features a wide variety of artwork including a permanent children’s art exhibit where families can explore a variety of interactive, kid-friendly art installations. The museum also offers art lessons for all ages through their Huntsville Museum of Art Academy.  Classes are available for children as early as ages 2-3 (Artsy Tots!) all the way to Master Artist Workshops for adults! Get more information about the museum and all it’s offerings at https://hsvmuseum.org/.

2. Enjoy Local Art and Music at Panoply Arts Festival:

Panoply Arts Festival is an iconic Huntsville tradition that takes place for one weekend each Spring. Located in downtown Huntsville at Big Spring Park, the festival offers hours of fun and a unique opportunity to connect with the local art community through artisan goods, food vendors, and live music. Plan to bring your stroller, folding chairs, and sunscreen–but leave coolers/outside food or drinks at home. Kids 12 and under get in free! Find more information about Panoply at https://www.artshuntsville.org/event/panoply/

3. Experience a Variety of Fine Art Mediums at Artis Art Studio:

Artis Art Studio, based in Madison, features a variety of art education for kids of all ages (0-17!). They offer a wide range of event types including classes, art play groups for toddlers, day and Summer camps, and birthday parties, focusing on many different mediums like drawing, painting, ceramics, and photography. With their emphasis on meeting children’s individual needs, Artis guides students to experience art in a way that nurtures their cognitive and social development. 4. Art Meets Nature at Monte Sano Art Festival:

Monte Sano Art Festival takes place every September at one of Alabama’s beautiful state parks. Bring the whole family to enjoy the offerings of artists from all around the country, explore the scenic mountain trails, and relax to live music from local musicians. With a large playground centrally located in the park, kids can have a fun, well-rounded day at the festival, both experiencing vibrant culture and opportunity for exercise and open play.

While admission to the festival is free, Monte Sano State Park does charge $10 per car for parking or $5 per walk-in guest (cash only!). https://www.artshuntsville.org/event/monte-sano-arts-festival/
